Averroes
Ab? l-Wal?d Mu?ammad Ibn Rušd (1126–1198), known in the West as "Averroes", was a philosopher, physician, and Muslim jurist, active in Cordoba, Sevilla, and Marrakesh. He is famous mostly for his extensive philosophical commentaries on all parts of the Aristotelian corpus of writings on logic, natural philosophy, and metaphysics, which – via their translations into Latin and Hebrew – deeply influenced European thought from the 13th to 16th century.
